Piano Lessons

I offer at-home piano lessons to students of all ages in the Omaha, NE area! 

My Approach

I have been teaching private piano lessons since 2017 and have spent the last 8 years evolving and refining my teaching style and the approach I take to private lessons. My own journey with piano started when I was very young and took my own private lessons. Since then, I found myself back in the piano room but this time as the teacher!

My approach to piano lessons align with my teaching philosophy. ​My teaching philosophy as a music educator is always evolving through experience and reflection. Students deserve an education that connects to their prior knowledge, incorporates active learning to engage them in the material, and fosters the ability for students to gain agency on the subject matter. My role as an educator must be that of a constructivist guide who scaffolds the students through active and engaging learning by making the learning accessible/inclusive and choosing appropriate repertoire for their level. Through games and other theory activities, the process stays engaging and (most importantly) fun!

  • Formerly the Director of Percussion and Head Instructor for the North Farmington High School Marching Band and Concert Program

  • Current Director of Percussion and Head Instructor for Omaha South High School 

Orion Music Studio (2022-2024)

  • Privately, I taught drums, piano, ukulele, world percussion, African drumming, and concert percussion

Red Piano Music Studio (2017-2022)

  • Privately, I taught drums, piano, ukulele, world percussion, African drumming, and concert percussion.

  • I also created curriculums for and taught beginner piano classes, group drumming and rock bands for students

  • I do in-house lessons for various levels of piano and drums within the Rochester and Lake Orion community

  • I presently do this in the Omaha community

Premier Academy (2021-2023)

  • I taught at the Premier Academies in Rochester Hills and Oakland Township giving lessons and teaching full music classes for pre-k to 5th grade

Percussion Teacher (2022-present)

  • Taught classes on percussion at Rochester Adams and North Farmington High School, taught private percussion lessons and organize weekly masterclasses at both high schools​

Orchestral Percussion Instructor (2018-2020)

  • Coached students in Oakland Youth Orchestra and the Dearborn Youth Orchestra on orchestral percussion

Notable Education Acknowledgments

Recipient of the Rochester Community Schools Foundation Excellence in Education Award (2024)

  • Received this award after being nominated by my students as assistant band director while at Rochester Adams High School

Established the Rochester Percussion Festival (2024)

  • Partnered with MarimbaOne and Malletech to organize the inaugural Rochester Day of Percussion, an event that featured local high schools and esteemed guest clinicians.

Student Auditions Consultant (2023-2024)

  • Gave private lessons and guidance to students through their application and audition for university music programs (Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Michigan State, Oakland University)

Percussion Ensemble Championship (2022-2024)

  • Taught multiple percussion ensemble groups at different highschools that went on to annually place in the championship competition rounds in the Michigan Percussion Ensemble competition and be chosen as finalists for Solo and Ensemble

2020 Dora Dawson Award Clinician (2020-2024)

  • Given multiple interactive community masterclasses after being selected as a winning soloist for the Pontiac Musicale Dora Dawson Award
